Parenthood..

I realize this is not Gilmore related but it is, involving Lauren Graham.
I saw "Parenthood" the other night, or half of it anyways she was great.
Her character seems to be really complex, and of course well thought out and played by her.

The show itself, I just can not decide if I like it or not.
It has some good and bad.. the bad being elements they picked have been over played lately like the aspergers.

Walking into it in the middle it also took me another 10 mins or so to figure out they were all related. lol.

She's also going to be in "It's a funny kind of story"

I just love her. She's such a great actress, and I sometimes wonder if there is anything she couldn't pull off.

Jane Eyre + Wuthering Heights [Begining]

Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte

I am on Chapter 6 and so far I love the way this book is going.
Sadly, I relate to too many of her feelings while she resided at "Gateshead".
I am curious to see how her life changes at this Institution.

Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte

I don't mind this book thus far. I am into the third chapter, I am finding the dialogue of Joseph difficult to decipher and that alone is making me contemplate whether or not I end up finishing this book. Other wise I have no complaints I am enjoying the book and it could be a good read.

I actually hot not intended to read books by authors of the same family, it just accidentally occurred that way when I was looking for books to check out.
There are many similarities between the two writing styles but I have to say I prefer Charlotte so far.

I think this is going to turn out to be an interesting experiment.

One (official) down.. and extra and an update

Wow.
I do not understand why Jane Austen is one of those authors who one seems to either love or hate.
I found her writing to be superb. It takes talent (IMHO) to be able to write a book where your main character can be hated yet the book loved.

In the end Emma ending up with whom she did it was predictable, yet sweet.
Harriett on the other hand was a complete surprize, much like the Churchhill fiasco.
I give Jane Austen credit, there are not many authors that can be that subtle yet surprizing.

This is one of the books I'd of loved to have read in highschool, rather then some of the crap we did. It isn't that much of a change, considering the males were alienated with whatever we read anyway.

Timeless classic... in my opinion and definitely re-readable.. just maybe not when you have a reading challenge with 52 books, and a mini movie challenge on your plate on top of life. lol.

I ended up reading the brief illustrated guide to Islam last night, cover to cover.. lol. I hadn't intended to but I was frustrated at some drama that occurred and left me with a mind to distract and nerves to calm so i went educational and religious to unwind.

Emma

So I have managed to break the 450 mark in Emma. Just when I thought I had gotten over the urge to smack her she strikes again.. I have to keep myself in check with just the way she is and the time period.

As much as I want to smack her at times, the book is very well written and its beautiful. It's one of those books that your eyes just seem to glide effortlessly over the pages, while the book has your full attention.

As I read I can't help but think who the hell she is going to end up with.. I mean there is Frank and Knightly to consider thus far. Added to that she is determined to set Harriet up with someone and to not marry which means that she likely will.

This i think is going to be one of those books that I read time and time again when I am in a horrendous mood.. for some reason it just cheers me up.

I find it rather amusing tho just how often her characters will get together with someone they dislike, but i realized that, I can think of a couple i do the very same thing with.
Jane Austen seems to have found a way to capture human nature in her characters.. the little odd ticks, or shallowness, and of course "status and class" because back then it just was everything.

Which is why the obviousness of the Emma/Harriet/Knightly/Churchhill mix seems too obvious.
Emma is obsessed with class so it only makes sense she would end up with Knightly leaving Harriet with the lower class gentleman, who would appear to have eyes only for Emma.

Personally if I were Emma (and I am glad I am not) I'd of had my eyes on Knightly long ago.
He seems much like her father, and much considerate of her father and the fact they know each other as well as they do says a lot. He is the one person that doesn't take her crap and doesn't sugar coat things when she screws up.

She's definitely someone who needs that.

I can see why Rory would enjoy this book but it got me to thinking about when it was she read this book.
They never really seemed to celebrate time periods at least as far as I can remember) tho they did indeed have episodes revolving around cultures and countries.
For some reason tho I remember a clip of Rory in a bonnet but the only thing that came up was the Easter in a bonnet eppy guide.

Definitely time to get re-watching.. once i get going on the mini movie challenge and all the other books on my list.

Gilmore Girls Movie (Challenge) List..

Is put into a spread sheet.
There is no Z but they have every other letter - disappointing..
I'm going to have to put some thought into that..

Question of the day..
What movie do you think (begining with Z) would Rory and Lorelai watch?

It also got me wondering if there was a Gilmore Girls music challenge yet.. *searches*

Starting off.

I have begun creating a spread sheet listing all the movies for the challenge, to be put in google documents and linked in the side bar upon completion.

Since I suddenly found myself in more then one Gilmore Girls Challenge I decided it was time that all my GG stuff had a home of its own it was just easier that way.
